FGA Partners with NHIS to register and renew NHIS cards for free in Jamestown

Empowering vulnerable group, quality health care which forms part of the Sustainable Development Goals cannot be exempted. Supporting women who lack sustainable sources of income, we need to plug financial leakages in their daily expenses. Our earlier interactions with the beneficiaries who are Single, Abandoned, Unemployed Young Mothers in Jamestown, Ghana, was revealed that 80% of them and their families were not covered by Ghana National health insurance Scheme making it difficult to access quality health care when they were sick. They sometimes had to opt for self-medication which can also be detrimental to their health. To help close this gap, we went into partnership with Ghana National Health Insurance Scheme of Ablekuma West Municipal to offer them with free health insurance registration and renewal of expiring cards.

The offer was for our 68 beneficiaries, surprisingly, we got to Bukom park of Jamestown to meet a crowd seated and waiting. These include; their Uncles, Mothers, Siblings, other extended family relations and some vulnerable group such as people with disabilities, aged who were equally looking for such an offer. It was overwhelming. Though, there was a heavy down poured, they still came through the rain to benefit from the service. Due to time factor we could not attend to all of them. However, 320 people out of 525 benefited. The beneficiaries were full of joy and thankful to Quantum Total Wellness Foundation and Ghana National Health Insurance Authority.
