FGA embarks on school building project dubbed AWECI Academy
In June, 2011. The CEO of Fill the Gap Africa, Vida Akekodaga was on her way to attend to a community durbar when she met children of school going age fetching water for people in order to get food to eat. She took interest in taking a photo of these kids. Since from that time she was always thinking about what to do to help these innocent Children. The Community was not having a school, the parents who are Single Unemployed Mothers could not afford to send their wards to far distance schools because of the transportation and feeding cost. In 2012, she decided to build a school with local material in Katiu Saa community of Kasena Nankana West (Upper East Region) of Ghana with her own resources. The School land was giving out by her family to support her dream to come through. The school started with ten (10) kids she met in 2011. These children became the first batch of the AWECI Academy School which completed in August, 2021. With excellent grades. They are now in Secondary schools in Ghana. We do donate school uniforms, shoes and teaching and learning materials to the kids.
The school enrollment is currently 350 both Junior High and the Primary school.
