Distance is a health outcome. If the nearest clinic is two hours away, a routine problem becomes an emergency.
The challenge
In rural and peri-urban communities, health care fails at the last mile: staff shortages, stock-outs, and the cost of transport. Women carry most of that burden, especially during pregnancy.
What we do
- Support CHPS compounds with equipment, supplies and outreach.
- Run community screening days for blood pressure, blood sugar and maternal risk factors.
- Fund health education on maternal care, nutrition and adolescent health in schools.
- Work with Quantum Medical Centre to refer complex cases into reliable clinical care.
- Build and equip facilities where none exist, with the community providing land and labor.
What changes
In Katiu Saa we worked with the community to establish a CHPS compound and a school, so that basic care and basic education no longer require a journey.
How you can help
Sponsor a screening day, equip a CHPS compound, or fund a maternal health outreach.
